2 months old

On Monday, Evan turned 2 months old!  These couple months have just flown by and it is amazing the joy he has brought to our lives!  We knew he had grown a lot over the past month, so we were eager to head to the doctor for his 2 month check up.  Here’s a couple pictures to see how he’s grown since he was born!IMG_0024

Child of God

This past Sunday, our little boy received the wonderful blessing of being baptized!  For so long, we talked about how we would raise our child/children to be a child of God.  We want Evan to know the Lord, grow strong in his faith, and witness his love of God to all he comes in contact with.  This wonderful sacrament was just his first step!

He was surrounded by family and friends on his special day.  His grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and great aunts were here to help him celebrate.  In addition to that family many members of his church family helped us celebrate after the service.

Evan wore a 127 year old baptismal gown that had been worn by 25 people before him (including his dad, grandpa, cousins, aunts, great aunts and uncles).  It was gorgeous and so special that he got to carry on the tradition.  His sponsors/Godparents are his Aunt Stephanie, Aunt Sarah, and my best friend Crystal.  These three ladies will no doubt share the love of God with Evan every chance they get!

Oh and Evan did great during the service.  He slept through the whole baptism, even when getting washed with Holy Water.  He woke up during the remainder of the service, but was a good boy and quietly looked at the lights!

Here are some pictures from his special day!

What's Evan Up To?

Well, Evan is going on 7 weeks old and he has changed so much in just the past week.  It is truly amazing!  Some of the biggest changes are in his personality.  He is much less fussy these days.  Evan is actually able to stay awake and alert for a good period of time and be content for most of it.  He usually is only crying if he is hungry or tired.  Along with less fussiness comes a happier baby.  Evan is smiling more and sometimes it even seems like giggling.  We love it and probably sound and look like the biggest fools trying to get him to smile.  He also slept 8 and a half hours last night straight!!!  That's some good sleep for mom and dad too!  He went about 9 hours between feedings!  I'm sure it was a fluke, but we'll take it.  Fluke or not, if did give us quite a happy baby this morning.  Here's some video to prove it!  It is a little long, but I promise you see a smile and some cooing in there!

Smile and the World Smiles With You

ok i'll smile

So, as you can see, Mr. Man is a smiling fool!  I wouldn’t call it responsive smiling yet, but at least I can capture the smile.  He is most smiley in the mornings after his morning nap.  I’m not sure what I did to make him smile in this picture…probably nothing special, he just felt like it.  But don’t you know I tried everything I could to get another smile from him.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.  Either way, who knew you could fall so in love with a little toothless grin?

Before, we know it Mr. Man will be smiling and laughing it up like this adorable little one (I seriously could watch this video over and over)!

Look who's talking

Mr. Man has so much to say, but such a limited vocabulary.  Still cute though!

Buttons take on the kid

So I just had to share this video...not because Evan is hating tummy time at the moment, but because you can see Buttons in the background.  She doesn't look too interested in what Evan's doing or what is going on, which is pretty much her constant state these days.  Buttons will sniff Mr. Man each morning to make sure he's still OK and every once in a while when Evan's in his bouncer she'll give him the once over.  For the most part, Buttons has adapted very well to having a third Gerke in the house.  She's getting old and slowing down, but overall still the best dog ever!
