Day Care
We all survived our first week of day care. Mr. Man probably took to it the best, with Scott coming in second, and me bringing up the rear. I’m so proud of the little guy. He really seemed completed unphased by what I thought would be a huge transition. Again, I came in last when it game to the transition. I always knew it was going to be harder on me, than on Evan…and it was totally true.
We went to visit one morning last week and it made me feel a lot better. They had his name on the wall, his cubby labeled with his name, and were all ready for him to start. The ladies in the infant room are all grandmas…really for the most part they are all over 60! I mean if anyone was going to take good care of Mr. Man, it would be a bunch of grandmas.
Day one went great. Scott dropped him off because I couldn’t bring myself to do it and he’ll be the drop off person normally anyway. I left work about 15 minutes early and rushed there to pick him up. He was dozing off in a glider and was just fine. Did I mention, that I was more a wreck than he was?
Well day two and three were a little tougher. We were trying to get down his feeding schedule and those grannies were feeding him every three hours on the dot. By day four, we got it figured out and today was perfect!
The biggest change has been his bedtime and wake up time. Everything got pushed back about an hour, so my little guy is in bed by 8:00 and sleeps until we wake him up at 6:30. He has been sleeping so well (knocking on wood)! He did wake up on his own this morning, so that means our weekends of sleeping in are officially a thing of the past, but when you get to wake up to play with that sweet little boy, who cares that it is 7:00 in the morning?
So, we managed to come away from our first day care experience unscathed. But that doesn’t mean I’m not still counting down the days until summer vacation (34 days)!
